The Lake County Corn Dogs put on a show against the visiting Indiana Panthers on Friday in a 13-1 victory, executing a near-perfect performance on both offense and defense.
Doug Loden received the start on the mound for the Corn Dogs, and while only seeing one inning of work, Loden pitched a scoreless inning with the help of a solid defense behind him.

The Corn Dogs put the pressure on early, extending innings against Panther’s starter Max Everart with a spread offensive attack. They took the lead 3-0 in the bottom of the second after a three-hit inning.
Ivan Balboa took over for Doug Loden in the top of the second and silenced the Panther’s offense for five innings straight. Balboa gave up three hits, no runs, one walk and six strikeouts, earning himself Macron Player of the Game.
Using the momentum provided by Balboa, the Corn Dogs offense stepped on the gas in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs off six hits and two errors, making it a 10-0 game.
Every Corn Dog player contributed to the game on offense, with each batter totaling at least one RBI on the night and all but one grabbing a hit. After one more three-spot in the bottom of the fifth, the Corn Dogs sat comfortably with a 13-0 lead.
Both Chris Bachman and Mark Tor came in relief to finish off a stellar night for the Corn Dogs and made sure to keep the Panther’s offense at bay, allowing two hits and one run between them. After nine innings at Legacy Fields, the scoreboard read 13-1.
Following the victory, the Corn Dogs look to keep up the success at home with the second game of a weekend home stand on Saturday when they take on the visiting Southland Vikings at 4 p.m. Saturday’s game versus the Elkhart Miracle was a rain out.
