By Noel Fary

The Lake County Corn Dogs didn’t go down without a fight against the Windy City (Crestwood, Ill.) baseball club Tuesday on the road.

Owen Walkowiak received the start for the Corn Dogs, continuing to rack up the strikeouts on his fantastic season. With just 1 earned run, 3 hits allowed, and 5 strikeouts, Walkowiak held Windy City for 4 innings.

Windy City jumped ahead first, scratching across three runs in the bottom of the fourth. They added on 2 more in the bottom of the sixth, but the Corn Dogs offense fought back.

The Corn Dogs mustered together 3 runs in the top of the sixth, tying the ball game. Jorgie Vazquez shined on offense, going 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Ultimately, Windy City pulled ahead and the Corn Dogs comeback fell short, with a final score of 6-4.

The Corn Dogs, now 20-7-1 on the season, look to bounce back when they play in the Firecracker Tournament Final on Wednesday, July 10.
