The Lake County Corn Dogs defeated the Southland Vikings on Saturday and Elkhart County Miracle on Sunday, adding onto their impressive home record and keeping the momentum flowing as the playoffs approach.
The Vikings traveled to Legacy Fields on Saturday after a rain cancellation on Friday. Stellar pitching got it done for the Corn Dogs in the 6-2 victory. Ryan Troxel started on the mound, throwing four scoreless innings, with one hit, no runs, and four strikeouts, earning himself Macron Player of the Game.

Jake Thometz backed up Troxel in relief, allowing one hit of his own, no runs, and two strikeouts. The Vikings only scored in one frame throughout the game, showing little to no signs of life on offense.
The Corn Dogs offense kept up their dominance they showed throughout the week, immediately putting up five runs in the bottom of the first.
A spread attack on offense saw the Corn Dogs keep the game out of the Vikings reach for all nine innings, easily securing the win. Following the game, the Corn Dogs looked to face the Miracle in their final regular season home game.
Earlier in the week, the Corn Dogs delivered two walk-off hits against the Miracle, completing wins in dramatic fashion, and earning themselves a chance to clinch the season series over Elkhart County.
Like every game these two teams play, sparks flew as the innings went on. The Miracle put up a five spot early in the top of the third, extending that run into a 7-2 lead in the top of the fourth.
The Corn Dogs refused to end their regular season clinching weekend on a bad note, chipping into the Miracle lead, and jumping in front off of an Adam Walters bases-clearing triple. Walters finished the day 2-2 with 4 RBIs, and three walks, earning himself Macron Player of the Game.
After a late Miracle scare, the Corn Dogs sealed the deal with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, winning the game 13-9.
