Corn Dogs Fall Short Against Windy City, Drop to 13-4

By Noel Fary

The Lake County Corn Dogs dropped a game to the Windy City Baseball club for the second time this season on Saturday, attempting a final inning rally but ultimately losing the contest 13-10.

Kevin Corcoran started for the Corn Dogs, posting four scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and tallying four more strikeouts on the season. However, Corcoran’s success was not limited to the mound.

Check out the box score from the game and the updated season stats.

Three runs crossed home for the Corn Dogs in the bottom of the second, two of which off a perfectly placed double by Tyler Schultz down the hot corner.

Following two straight games where the Corn Dogs failed to score a run past the second inning, they appeared to break the curse with a three run bottom of the fourth. Adam Walters ripped a double off the fence in left field scoring two, and Schultz grabbed his third RBI of the day off a sacrifice fly.

The Windy City Baseball Club mustered arguably their best offensive inning of the season, scoring 10 runs in the top of the fifth, putting the game far out of reach for the Corn Dogs.

A hard-hit home run and a late seventh inning rally saw the Corn Dogs put the game within three runs, but Windy City held on winning the game 13-10.

Corcoran stood out amongst Corn Dogs bats as well, going 3-for-3 with 3 runs, an RBI, and a walk.

The Corn Dogs look to close out their four-game home stand on Sunday when the WDS Thunder travel to Legacy Field. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
