The Corn Dogs got some great pitching from their all-star, Frank Plesac, who pitched 4.2 innings, allowed no earned runs and struck out nine hitters. He leads the league with 49 strikeouts this season.
Lake County jumped out to a lead in the second inning from a two RBI double from Hayden Matulich to give the Corn Dogs a 2-0 lead on the Generals. The fifth frame saw a play where three runs scored from a broken bat single into right from Bret Matthys, and two errors unloaded the bases and gave the Corn Dogs a 10-3 lead. The Corn Dogs scored one more time in the sixth and that would be it offensively.
The Generals scored two runs from a Brennan Fischer home run, and another would score from a wild pitch. The ninth started with the first six hitters reaching base before Tyler Schultz made his first pitching appearance this season.
An infield single and an error gave the Generals three runs and their first lead, 13-11
Right fielder Hayden Matulich was the Macron Player of the Game. Matulich went 3-5 with two doubles and five RBIs. Matulich has now driven in a run in three straight games and has raised his batting average to .346.
The Corn Dogs are now 21-8 and still lead the Northern League standings. The Corn Dogs will try to bounce back Wednesday in a game against the Chicago American Giants at home. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
