By Andrew Mild

A five-game winning streak for the Lake County Corn Dogs brought some much deserved recognition from the Northern League, with Doug Loden named Player of the Week and Ryan Troxel awarded the Pitcher of the Week.

This is the second time the Corn Dogs have won Player of the Week since Tyler Schultz received the honor in week one of the season.

Loden had a great run for the Corn Dogs last week. He played in four games as a position player he went 9-15 (.600), with two doubles, four home runs, 12 RBIs, six runs, two walks, two hit by pitches and one strikeout. Loden also put together a 2.450 OPS while tying the league record at seven home runs of the season.

Troxel became the third Corn Dog this season to be recognized as Pitcher of the Week, joining Frank Plesac and Rex Stills, who won the awards consecutively in week one and two. Troxel has not allowed an earned run this season through two starts and six relief appearances. The right-hander from Indiana Tech has a .154 opposing batting average.
