Corn Dogs Tie Against Orioles on the Road

By Noel Fary

The Lake County Corn Dogs finished their first matchup against the Lombard Orioles in a draw on Tuesday that felt even in almost every way.

The Orioles got the scoring started first with one run in the bottom of the third off of Corn Dogs starter Eric Santaguida.

Santaguida tightened things up, throwing scoreless baseball otherwise, with three strikeouts and only five hits, earning himself an Ironman Player of the Game.

The Corn Dogs jumped in front in the fourth, scoring three runs off a Robert Tate Jr. triple and two bases-loaded walks.

With another run scoring in the fifth after an Adam Walters single, the Orioles clamped the Corn Dogs offense, entering the bottom of the ninth trailing by 2.

Ultimately, the Orioles tied the ball game, however, play stopped and a 4-4 tie was declared.

The Corn Dogs, with a 15-4-1 record, continue their road trip on Wednesday when they take on The Southsiders. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
