Host A Player

Host A Player:

The Lake County Corn Dogs are seeking local families to house our out-of-town players during the upcoming baseball season. Your family and home can play a vital role in the success of our players, offering a bed and a place that they can call home for the 12 weeks that they are with us playing baseball for the Corn Dogs. Our players would be with your family from late May until early August.

A future Major Leaguer living with you?

Many benefits come from housing a player, whether it’s the opportunity to impact a young man’s future or allowing him to be a positive role model to your children. And who knows? You just may have a future Major League baseball player living under your roof! Your involvement in this program is vital to the player’s success as well as that of our team’s success!

As a thank you for providing a home away from home for our players this season, you will receive:

  • Season tickets for each member of your immediate family living in household
  • A 25% discount on all team merchandise
  • An invitation to the Corn Dogs’ Host Family Dinner
  • On-field recognition at a Corn Dogs game

Expectations of the Corn Dogs Host Family

  • Have a bedroom and use of a bathroom for the player.
Two beds in one room for two players is fine, however, under no circumstances can a player share a bedroom with a non-player. Players are expected to keep both the bedroom and bathroom clean.
  • Provide use of laundry facilities.
You may want the player to do his own laundry or you may want to do it for him. You just have to let him know.
  • Within reason, have food available for the player.
However, if the player wants certain drinks, special snacks, etc., the should pay for those and get them himself.
  • Players need plenty of rest.
With their baseball schedule, rest is limited at best. It is important that they have a quiet place to go and rest inside the home. Also, there may be times that you will have to suggest that they get more rest. Please know that these young men play 60 games in 70 days, and 30 of those games are on the road. Sometimes they will be arriving home quite late in the evening and will need sleep.
  • Underage drinking is not allowed.
Please be sure that any players in your who may consume alcohol are of legal drinking age. Know that we strongly discourage drinking and partying for all of our players.
  • Your house rules are important.
We encourage you to speak with your player upon arrival about any expectations or rules you may have.  That will alleviate any future problems.

If you have any problems or feel uncomfortable with your player, please let
inform the Corn Dogs front office immediately.
