Lake County Corn Dogs Opening Day is Thursday, May 25 versus the NWI Oilmen

It’s time for baseball everyone — the Lake County Corn Dogs’ winning brand of baseball.

First pitch of 2023 season is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 versus the Corn Dogs’ Northern League rivals, the NWI Oilmen.

After posting a 35-11 regular season record, the Corn Dogs swept a double-header from the Oilmen to win the Northern League championship last season.

The Oilmen will want revenge, and their three-game series against the Corn Dogs should set to the tone for the rest of the season. The teams will also square off on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 at Legacy Fields in Crown Point.

Opening day festivities will get going at 5:30 p.m. with pre-game entertainment from Eli & Abner, who will also perform the National Anthem.

Crown Point Mayor Pete Land will throw out the first pitch, while the Corn Dogs’ new mascot, Cornelius, will make its debut.

The Corn Dogs will also launch it’s own brand of beer, Golden Batter, a special recipe Pilsner created by Off the Square Brewery of Crown Point. Off the Square and Hard Rock Casino of Northern Indiana are co-sponsoring the Corn Dogs’ beer garden this season.

The Corn Dogs are also supported by “Presenting Partner” University of Chicago Medicine and many more partners.

In addition to exciting baseball action, there will be plenty for the Corn Dogs’ young fans, namely, the Kids Zone, featuring a variety of games and a bounce house.
