The Lake County Corn Dogs had a few days to think about their heartbreaking loss to Crestwood at home on Friday, dropping the game 5-2 in 11 innings. In Monday’s rematch, they weren’t having it.

The Corn Dogs and Panthers battled through the first four innings to a 0-0 tie. Lake County had plenty of scoring opportunities, but stranded seven runners through four. The scoring would start with Doug Loden going the opposite way and collecting his fourth home run of the season to put two Corn Dogs runs up on the board in the fifth.
The Corn Dogs didn’t hold on to the lead for long, as Crestwood responded with four runs in the next frame off of four hits and three errors by the deep fried dogs.
With Crestwood up 4-2 in the seventh, Tyler Schultz singled in a run, and Loden hit one off the wall for an RBI-two bagger to tie the game at four. Tack on four more runs from bases loaded walks, a Hayden Matulich sacrifice fly, and an RBI-single from Gavin Terry put the Corn Dogs up 8-4.
Cal Curiel doubled in two insurance runs and the Corn Dogs sealed the game at 10-4.
Doug Loden, the Macron Player of the game was, went 3-5 with a double, a home run, three RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. His fourth home run leads the Northern League.
The Corn Dogs are 17-7 and are atop the Northern League by four games. The Dogs are at home Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Game time is 7 p.m.
