Nine Corn Dogs selected to the 2022 Northern League All-Star Game roster

Nine members of the Lake County Corn Dogs have been selected to play for the East in the 2022 Northern League All-Star game — the most for any team in the league.

Whiting are pitchers Conor Pangburn, Ryan Troxel, Jimmy Burke and Frank Plesac and position players Tyler Schultz, Cal Curiel, Doug Loden, Roman Kuntz and Gavin Terry.

Pangburn, who won the Duneland Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the Lake Central Indians, joined the Corn Dogs after the high school season. He has set the strike out record for the Corn Dogs twice in three starts. He rang up 10 and 13 strikeouts in his first two starts and has allowed no earned runs in three starts.

As of July 5, Troxel had pitched 23.2 innings and not allowed an earned run, starting two games and pitching in six games coming out of the bullpen. Troxel has 29 strikeouts and just eight walks.

Plesac currently leads the Northern League in strikeouts with 40 in six starts, averaging 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings. Burke has a 0.37 ERA in 24.1 innings for Burke. Burke started a game against the Vikings in June where he went five innings of no-hit ball for a combined no-hitter.

Schultz has a .363 batting average and has had 11 multi-hit games in 26 games. Loden has hit seven home runs and is tied for the league record.

Curiel is batting at a .324 clip with 19 RBIs, 19 walks and 11 stolen bases. Roman Kuntz has played in 15 games this season, getting on-base in every game. He has a .465 on-base percentage.

Gavin Terry had a 14-game hitting streak, and leads the league with a .394 batting average. After 99 plate appearances he has a .556 OBP.

The 2022 All-Star Game will start at 7:10 p.m., and will be broadcast on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network via JED-TV, AM 1230 WJOB, Region Sports and Facebook Live.
